Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Position Overview

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides comprehensive respiratory care services under the supervision of departmental leadership. This role delivers therapeutic, diagnostic, and supportive respiratory services to patients with cardiopulmonary conditions, following established policies, procedures, and physician orders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory therapy services under medical direction for patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies.

  • Assist with intubations and perform ventilator setup, monitoring, and management.

  • Assess patient needs by gathering clinical data, performing evaluations, and collaborating with interdisciplinary care teams.

  • Deliver patient- and caregiver-specific disease education and ensure understanding of treatment plans.

  • Develop strong professional relationships with patients, caregivers, and healthcare team members to support optimal care outcomes.

  • Document respiratory care services, patient education, and clinical interventions accurately and timely.

  • Participate in additional duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Adhere to organizational competencies, policies, and professional standards of conduct.

  • Meet physical requirements, including lifting, pushing, pulling a minimum of 5 lbs., and standing for extended periods.

  • Maintain frequent communication with medical staff and patient visitors as part of routine care delivery.

Schedule & Work Details

  • Hours per Week: 36

  • Shift Length: 12-hour shifts

  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week

  • Shift Time: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM

  • Patient Load: Approximately 10–12 ventilated patients per RRT

Education Requirements

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.

Certifications & Licensure

Required:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

  • Current and valid State Respiratory Care License

  • Current and valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
