Job Description

The Yard Technician / Laborer plays a key role in supporting yard and shop operations for mobile trailers and related equipment. This entry-level position offers a hands-on opportunity to learn the full process and trade, from material handling and staging to basic construction and carpentry tasks. You will work primarily in an outdoor yard environment, assisting with loading and unloading trucks, assembling and installing furniture, and moving equipment and materials safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Move materials and equipment around the yard and within the shop in a safe and organized manner.
  • Stage materials and components needed for trailer setup, repair, and refurbishment.
  • Assist with loading and unloading trucks, ensuring materials and equipment are handled carefully and securely.
  • Build and install furniture and fixtures inside mobile trailers using hand and power tools.
  • Support basic carpentry and construction tasks related to mobile trailers and yard operations.
  • Operate with a strong mechanical aptitude when working with tools, equipment, and trailer components.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining productivity and safety standards.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, orderly yard and shop environment.
  • Use basic computer skills to support daily tasks such as documentation, inventory, or work orders.
  • Demonstrate a "do it all" attitude by assisting with any additional yard, shop, or setup tasks as needed.
  • Develop skills and knowledge that can support growth into a Set Up Technician role over time.

Essential Skills

  • Carpentry skills with the ability to perform basic construction-related tasks.
  • Familiarity with construction trades and general construction practices.
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • General labor experience in a physical, hands-on role.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools, equipment, and trailer components.
  • A current valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Basic computer knowledge to support routine work tasks.
  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Strong work ethic and a proactive, "do it all" attitude.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • HVAC technician skills are a plus and may support more advanced trailer setup and maintenance tasks.
  • Prior experience in a yard, warehouse, or construction environment is beneficial.
  • Ability to learn and grow into a Set Up Technician role over time.
  • Comfort working with furniture assembly and installation.
  • Strong attention to safety and detail when handling materials and equipment.

Work Environment

This role is based out of a branch yard facility, with most work performed in an outdoor storage yard and adjacent shop area. Standard hours are approximately 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday work during peak seasons. You will regularly work in the elements, including heat, cold, and varying weather conditions, while moving materials and equipment around the yard. The position involves frequent use of hand and power tools, as well as physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and staging materials. The environment is active and hands-on, with a focus on safety, practical problem solving, and teamwork. There is no formal dress code specified beyond wearing appropriate work attire suitable for construction and yard work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Duluth, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
