Harris Park Camp Host

PAY: $75.00/wk stipend

CLOSING: Open Until Filled

DEPARTMENT: Public Works

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Pre-employment requirements:

  • Camp Hosts will be required to submit an application for employment to Umatilla County and pass a criminal history background check.

Expectations of Camp Host

  • Provide their own camper/trailer/motorhome and live onsite for the duration of tenure
  • Understand and explain park rules to park patrons
  • Camp Host's campsite will have a sign designating them as such
  • A duration of a month or longer is preferred but not required. Preference may be given to applicants who are available for a longer length of time
  • This position is 5 days/week for the entire time the campground is open April 1 thru Oct 31. The host is expected to work weekends and holidays during this time. Off days will be taken from Monday to Thursday and will require authorization and scheduling with the Park Manager
  • The Camp Host is a visible representative of the County, and as such, shall conduct themselves in an appropriate manner.

Desirable Qualifications for Employment:

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of acting as a Camp Host. Thorough Knowledge of Recreation Vehicle maneuvering safety. Must be physically able to perform some hand mowing, raking, shoveling, sweeping, litter removal, and like tasks.
  • Must have well-developed human relations skills to deal positively and effectively with customers and co-workers to enforce campground rules. Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with visitors, community groups, and the general public.
