Position Summary
Under routine supervision of the Deputy General Manager of Engineering, the Maintenance Engineering Manager directs and supervises all activities associated with maintaining all manufacturing equipment and facilities. The maintenance Engineering Manager directly supervises the Maintenance Engineering staff. The Maintenance manager is responsible for maintaining all equipment and facilities as well as plan for improvements to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and cost targets are met, and manages all production equipment and facility changes as part of the management team. The Maintenance Engineering manager is also responsible for maintaining equipment and facility spare parts as well as managing the supervisor of the maintenance associates.
Education, Experience, and Licenses/Certifications
(A comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)
· Bachelor’s degree specifically in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical)
- In lieu of schooling, will also consider military training and/or equivalent combination of education and experience in a heavy manufacturing facility.
- Minimum of 5 years manufacturing leadership experience.

1. Oversees maintenance of steel manufacturing plant. Interfacing between Maintenance and Operations to ensure resources are effectively focused on increasing reliability
- Oversees activities of maintenance department.
- Collaborates with Plant Manager to schedule preventative maintenance activities.
- Responsible for building world-class mechanical and preventative maintenance teams that will keep production equipment in excellent condition, keep lines running high efficiencies and maintain proper stock of parts.
- Oversees outside contractors performing installations and projects at the facility.
- Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
- Hires, trains, coaches, and reviews the performance of employees. Works with HR for employee discipline issues, terminations, and recruitment.
- Oversees safety team activities. Monitors and enforces safety requirements.
- Builds a positive work environment.
- Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
- Maintains time and maintenance records.
- Develops capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve quality, cost, and cycle times.
- Estimates, requisitions, and inspects materials.
- Develops and oversees the total maintenance and capital project yearly budgets.
- Develops long-range budget projections and justifications for maintenance and capital requirements.
18. Oversees the performance of major maintenance and capital projects to assure completion on time within budget.

1. Ability to build strategic relationships with key stakeholders across the operation to ensure improved collaboration and deliver results.
2. Experience implementing best in class maintenance programs and strategies (TPM, RCM, Planning/Scheduling, Predictive and Preventative Maintenance)
3. Supervisory experience with salaried and hourly maintenance workforce
4. Knowledge in manufacturing MRO systems
5. Demonstrated experience in PLC programming and automation
6. Experience facilitating lean manufacturing events with cross-functional teams
7. Leadership and organizational skills.
8. Collaborative management style.
9. Verbal and written communication skills.
10. Technical and maintenance skills.
11. Knowledge of ASME Codes and Engineering Guidelines, environmental regulatory requirements, OSHA and Industrial Hygiene requirements.
