Position Summary
The Lead ECSE Behavior Specialist is an education-based leadership position supporting ALFSs 35 Early Intervention classrooms in partnership with the Elwyn EI program.
This role integrates Early Childhood Special Education expertise with evidence-informed behavioral practices to promote structured learning environments, social-emotional development, and effective classroom systems.
The Lead ECSE Behavior Specialist works collaboratively with ECE teachers, EI Service Coordinators, and related service providers (OT, PT, SLP) to ensure high-quality educational programming and fidelity to IEP goals and PDE standards.
Essential Responsibilities
Educational Leadership & Classroom Support
Support implementation of developmentally appropriate ECSE curriculum aligned with IEP goals
Model and support effective classroom management strategies
Ensure consistent use of visual supports, structured routines, and inclusive instructional practices
Provide hands-on classroom support as needed
Behavioral Systems & Intervention Support
Implement and monitor classroom-wide positive behavior support systems
Support data collection and progress monitoring related to behavioral and educational goals
Provide consultation to classroom staff on proactive and responsive behavior strategies
Promote strengths-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive practices
EI Program & Compliance Support
Ensure educational programming aligns with PDE and Early Intervention (35) regulations
Participate in IEP meetings and interdisciplinary team discussions as appropriate
Support collaboration with Elwyn EI and related service providers
Maintain appropriate documentation standards
Team Collaboration
Provide mentorship and guidance to ECE classroom staff
Support onboarding and training of new classroom personnel
Promote interdisciplinary communication and collaboration
Qualifications
Required
Masters Degree (M.A. or M.Ed.) in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or related field
Active Pennsylvania Special Education Certification
Licensed Behavior Specialist (LBS) in good standing with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
Minimum of 35 years of experience in Early Childhood Special Education and/or ABA-informed educational settings
Strong classroom management and behavior systems experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
Experience working within Early Intervention (35) programs
Experience collaborating with Intermediate Units or Elwyn EI
Experience supporting interdisciplinary teams
