JOB TITLE: Senior Accountant
DEPARTMENT: Finance
JOB RELATIONSHIPS:
Responsible to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Responsible for: No supervisor responsibility
Interrelationships: Works cooperatively with all hospital departments, Medical
Staff, patients, and visitors.
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for assisting the finance department and CFO in routine tasks and special projects.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: Previous accounting or bookkeeping experience is required; experience in healthcare or nonprofit setting a plus.
Education: Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
Accounting degree is ideal but not required.

Robust mathematical and analytical skills
Excellent professional oral and written communication skills
Able to work both independently and collaboratively
Strong understanding of accounting principles
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
JOB DUTIES (This list may not include all the duties assigned.)
- Create and enter adjusting journal entries and miscellaneous deposits.
- Reconcile all bank accounts.
- Track donations and grants revenue and expenses.
- Track and reconcile prepaid expenses and nonpatient accounts receivable.
- Generate financial reports from the electronic health record system.
- Review general ledger for accurate posting.
- Compile monthly financial statements.
- Produce and distribute monthly departmental financial reports.
- Assist with annual budget preparation.
- Work with CPA firm on financial audits, cost reports, DSH surveys, and tax returns.
- Assist with accounts payable.
- Assist in the preparation and review of 1099 forms.
- Generate production reports, invoices, and billing for shared medical providers.
- Calculate and submit quarterly sales tax returns.
- Assist department directors and supervisors with budget and expense inquiries.
- Analyze data for irregularities.
- Attend required meetings.
- Other duties as assigned by the CFO.
