Job DescriptionJob Title: Night Shift Machinist
Location: Chesterfield, MI
Pay Rate: $18–$22 per hour (based on experience)Job Summary:We are currently hiring a versatile and dependable Night Shift Machinist to support operations across lathe machining, large casting milling, and general milling tasks. This role requires hands-on experience with CNC and manual machines, strong precision measurement skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality parts in a fast-paced production environment.Key Responsibilities:Lathe Operator (Nights):

  • Set up and operate manual and CNC lathes to machine components to tight tolerances.
  • Interpret blueprints and follow specifications for various part configurations.
  • Conduct inspections using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.

Mill – Large Casting (Nights):

  • Operate large CNC and vertical mills to machine oversized or complex castings.
  • Safely rig, load, and fixture large workpieces using cranes and clamping systems.
  • Maintain tooling and machine setups for consistent quality output.

General Mill (Nights):

  • Perform general milling operations on small to mid-sized parts.
  • Keep workstations organized and maintain equipment as needed.
  • Contribute to nightly production targets and process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in machining operations (lathe and/or mill).
  • Ability to read technical drawings and use precision measurement tools.
  • Experience working with metals such as iron, steel, and aluminum.
  • Familiarity with CNC machine setup and operation; manual machining experience is a plus.
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs and standing for extended periods.
  • Crane and forklift operation experience or certification preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Working knowledge of CNC controls (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens).
  • Experience machining large castings or custom components.
  • Awareness of IATF 16949 or similar quality standards.
  • Exposure to wet spray coating or assembly processes is a plus.
