The Shipping Clerk is a core team member of the Warehouse Operations Team. The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing, processing, and documenting outgoing shipments to ensure accurate, timely, and cost-effective delivery of goods. This role supports daily shipping operations by coordinating with carriers, maintaining shipping records, and ensuring compliance with company procedures and safety standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Prepare and package outgoing shipments according to company and carrier requirements
· Generate shipping labels, packing slips, and bills of lading
· Verify shipment contents against orders to ensure accuracy
· Schedule pickups and coordinate with carriers and freight companies
· Weigh, measure, and record shipment data
· Maintain accurate shipping logs and documentation
· Inspect outgoing shipments for damage or quality issues
· Assemble boxes, pack orders to customer specifications
· Pull stock from shelves to prepare for custom orders
· Clean and wrap canisters and frames, when needed
· Operate shipping software and warehouse management systems
· Communicate shipment status and issues to internal departments
· Provide estimates/quotes for the Sales department
· Work with departmental team leads and Logistics Manager to achieve order fulfillment goals
· Operate material handling equipment responsibly (i.e., hi-lo and pallet jack, etc.)
· Conducts regular cycle counts and physical inventory
· Able to train team members in warehouse jobs
· Follow safety, quality, and company policies always
Job Requirements:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· 2-3 years of prior experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations preferred
· Basic computer skills and experience with shipping software
· Ability to read and interpret shipping documents
· Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and effective communication and teamwork skills
· Experience with carriers such as UPS, FedEx and DHL preferred
· Forklift experience and certification (or willingness to obtain)
· Knowledge of inventory or warehouse management systems preferred
· Ability to lift, push, and pull packages up to 50 lbs regularly
· Ability to work independently with limited direction and supervision
· Standing, walking, lifting, and bending for extended periods is a must
