Job Title: Engineer Product
Client: Heavy Machine Manufacturing
Duration: 2 Years with possible extension
Location: Torrance, CA 90503
Shift: 1st Shift | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Position Summary

As an Engineer Product II (PV&V), you will plan, coordinate, and perform product design, testing, and analysis for moderately scoped projects or subsystems of larger programs. This role focuses on supporting the development and validation of John Deere’s StarFire GNSS systems, working in a team-based environment, contributing to design reviews, and executing verification and validation (V&V) activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct feasibility testing and provide feedback for design validation.
• Perform inspections and evaluations to ensure engineering standards are met.
• Support verification and validation (V&V) testing of StarFire GNSS receivers.
• Operate agricultural machinery, perform field testing, data logging, and analysis.
• Collaborate with UC ANR South Coast Farm and John Deere teams to align test operations.
• Train and support UC ANR staff in John Deere Precision Agriculture technologies.
• Maintain test equipment, manage repairs, and oversee storage of test vehicles.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Systems Technology, Agricultural Engineering, or related field.
• 1+ years of hands-on experience with precision agriculture equipment.
• Familiarity with John Deere machinery.
• Experience in system validation, regression testing, and field-testing.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Precision Agriculture systems.
• Experience in GNSS receiver testing.
• Familiarity with CAN bus protocols.
