Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant – Emergency Float Pool
Location: Syracuse, NY
Job Type: Contract
Shift: 6 shifts per 2 weeks | 12-hour shifts
Schedule Requirement: Every other weekend required

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join an Emergency Float Pool. This role involves providing direct and indirect patient care across multiple units, supporting high-acuity environments, and ensuring patient safety and comfort.

The ideal candidate will be a strong team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to respond effectively to changing patient needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, including bathing, toileting, feeding, and hygiene support
  • Obtain and record vital signs accurately
  • Assist with patient mobility and repositioning
  • Serve as a safety companion for patients at risk, ensuring continuous observation
  • Communicate patient status and changes to nursing staff
  • Maintain a safe and clean patient care environment
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Maintain accurate documentation and patient records
  • Demonstrate knowledge of age-specific patient care and development
  • Uphold ethical standards and patient confidentiality

Required Qualifications

  • Active New York State Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum 1 year of patient care experience
  • Ability to pass pre-employment health clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a Level 1 Trauma or Emergency Department setting
