Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant – Emergency Float Pool
Location: Syracuse, NY
Job Type: Contract
Shift: 6 shifts per 2 weeks | 12-hour shifts
Schedule Requirement: Every other weekend required
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join an Emergency Float Pool. This role involves providing direct and indirect patient care across multiple units, supporting high-acuity environments, and ensuring patient safety and comfort.
The ideal candidate will be a strong team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to respond effectively to changing patient needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including bathing, toileting, feeding, and hygiene support
- Obtain and record vital signs accurately
- Assist with patient mobility and repositioning
- Serve as a safety companion for patients at risk, ensuring continuous observation
- Communicate patient status and changes to nursing staff
- Maintain a safe and clean patient care environment
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate documentation and patient records
- Demonstrate knowledge of age-specific patient care and development
- Uphold ethical standards and patient confidentiality
Required Qualifications
- Active New York State Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum 1 year of patient care experience
- Ability to pass pre-employment health clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a Level 1 Trauma or Emergency Department setting
