The Senior Digital Media Coordinator will manage content development and distribution across social media, email, digital advertising, and the website—helping to expand our reach, deepen engagement, and elevate the organization’s digital brand identity. Reporting to the Director of Digital Media, the Senior Digital Media Coordinator will work closely with the Communications team and colleagues across the organization to ensure consistent messaging and impactful engagement.

What You’ll be Doing:
Responsibilities of the Senior Digital Media Coordinator include but are not limited to:

Social Media & Digital Engagement

  • Implement digital engagement strategies across platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, X/Twitter, TikTok, Threads, and emerging channels).
  • Create and publish short- and long-form video content optimized for social platforms.
  • Develop new multimedia storytelling formats, including podcasts, digital series, and newsletters.
  • Curate, develop, and schedule mission-driven content—graphics, videos, and interactive media.
  • Manage the content calendar and coordinate with external vendors for content production.
  • Track and report on digital performance using analytics tools.
  • Support live event coverage by capturing and posting real-time content.


Email Marketing & Digital Content

  • Prepare and schedule integrated email campaigns - including newsletters, advocacy alerts, and donor communications - using Action Network and/or Blackbaud.
  • Format and proof campaign content for accuracy and design consistency.
  • Upload creative assets, apply audience segmentation, and execute test sends.
  • Generate post-send reports to track open rates, click-throughs, and overall performance.
  • Contribute to blog posts, LinkedIn newsletters, and long-form storytelling platforms.


Branding & Digital Strategy Execution

  • Ensure brand consistency across all digital platforms, including social media, email, podcast channels, and the website.
  • Collaborate on the website redesign, including content migration, accessibility improvements, and user testing.
  • Document existing digital workflows and draft/update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for email, web and social publishing.
  • Maintain updated SOPs in the team’s knowledge base and flag gaps for Director review.
  • Coordinate with vendors and consultants to deliver high-quality, on-time outcomes.


Minimum Requirements and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in digital communications, social media management, or a related field (nonprofit or advocacy preferred).
  • Demonstrated commitment to racial justice and a strong understanding of civil rights issues.
  • Ability to translate complex topics into accessible, compelling digital content.
  • Proficiency in scheduling and analytics tools (e.g., Buffer, Sprout, or platform-native insights).
  • Experience with email/CRM platforms (Action Network and Blackbaud).
  • Graphic design, photography, and video editing skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) preferred, not required.
  • Experience with paid digital advertising (e.g., Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal).
  • Strong project management skills, including digital audits and website redesigns.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience managing digital assets, templates, and content systems.
  • Adaptability to evolving priorities and ability to implement process improvements.
  • Support onboarding of junior staff, interns, and fellows by sharing SOPs, walking them through digital tools (e.g., Action Network, WordPress, Canva), and answering process questions as assigned by the Director. This is peer-level knowledge sharing, not formal supervision.
  • 20% domestic travel required.

The expected range for this role will be: $60,000 - $85,000
