I. BASIC FUNCTION:
Performs clerical and health professional assistant duties for the WIC Program.
All employees of FCHC must ensure service standards are delivered, including:

III. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides clerical support to the nutrition department (answering telephone, scheduling appointments, etc.)
2. Completes the following in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Missouri Department of Health
and Senior Services, Bureau of WIC and Nutrition Services:
• Collects and enters WIC certification data, including demographic information, anthropometric and
biochemical data, immunizations data, and other necessary medical and/or health information.
• Provides all aspects of the WIC program explanation and documents appropriately.
• Issues WIC benefits.
3. Coordinates patient flow with other members of the health care team.
5. Communicates effectively and works closely with WIC staff to create an efficient system and quality program
while maintaining WIC caseload.
6. Refers clients to appropriate community, health, and social services.
7. Assists in the promotion of breastfeeding as the preferred method of feeding by using language supportive of
breastfeeding and referring participants for follow up with breastfeeding team as needed.
8. Maintains a professional and respectful attitude toward all WIC participants and patients.
9. Supports objectives for WIC Local Agency Plan, as appropriate.
10. Attends nutrition department meetings and trainings to stay up to date on policies and procedures.
IV. PERIODIC DUTIES:
1. Attends continuing education opportunities as appropriate.
2. Participates in WIC community outreach activities.
3. Performs other duties as assigned.
V. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Inside Health Center: All inclusive.
Outside Health Center: Patients, health care professionals, and other community health agencies.

VI. QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School Diploma or equivalency required.
2. Two (2) years Medical Assistant or health care setting experience preferred.
3. Two (2) years experience in a community health nutrition program preferred.
4. Must demonstrate good customer service and communication skills.
5. Successful completion of the state required training within the time designated by the state WIC office.
