A highly skilled Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) opportunity is available in the operating room for a 13-week contract position located in Saint Peters, Missouri. This role focuses on providing expert perioperative nursing care during a variety of general and orthopedic surgical procedures, with additional exposure to neurosurgery and ENT cases. The position offers day shifts, Monday through Friday from 6:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., with on-call support approximately one evening per week and one weekend every 4-6 weeks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive perioperative assessments and coordinate nursing care throughout the surgical experience.
- Assist surgeons by anticipating procedural needs, applying advanced anatomy knowledge, and managing wound exposure and hemostasis techniques.
- Supervise team readiness and procedural preparation to ensure timely, safe surgeries.
- Adhere to strict asepsis and infection control protocols, acting as a resource for perioperative staff.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to develop and implement individualized care plans including postoperative evaluations.
- Utilize advanced equipment such as Da Vinci Xi robotic systems and navigation tools for neuro/ENT procedures.
Qualifications:
- Current RN license eligible or active in Missouri.
- Minimum two years of RNFA experience with general, orthopedic, and neuro OR cases preferred.
- Certification in BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association.
- CNOR certification and first assisting certification highly desirable.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced OR setting with a patient-centered approach.
