Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit. The LPN will provide direct patient care under RN supervision, manage assigned patients, and support a fast-paced acute care environment.

Scheduling Details:

• Shift: Rotating Days/Nights (3x12-hour shifts)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday as needed
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
• Orientation: 16 hours (non-billable)
• Call-Off Policy: Up to 3 shifts may be canceled per 13-week contract

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care and manage assigned patient load with RN support
• Monitor and document vital signs, intake/output, and patient condition
• Administer medications (oral, IM, SQ, NG/G-tube, etc.)
• Perform IV therapy using pumps
• Assist with wound care and basic procedures (dressings, drains, Foley catheter insertion)
• Conduct telemetry monitoring and 12-lead EKGs
• Provide oxygen therapy and feeding tube management
• Maintain accurate documentation using EMR systems
• Communicate changes in patient status to RN/MD

Required Clinical Skills:

• Acute care experience within the last 2 years
• Ability to independently manage patient assignments with RN oversight
• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm awareness
• Blood glucose monitoring and specimen collection
• Infection control and isolation precautions
• Basic patient care (bathing, hygiene, mobility assistance)

Requirements:

• Active New York LPN License (required at submission; not a compact state)
• BLS Certification (required)
• EPIC EMR experience (required)
• First-time travelers accepted
