A 13-week contract opportunity is available for an experienced Medical-Surgical RN to work nights at a busy surgical medical care center located in Chandler, IN. This role requires strong clinical skills and the ability to manage a diverse post-surgical patient population in a dynamic environment. The position offers guaranteed hours with a possibility to extend your shifts for additional hours.
Location:
Chandler, IN area, with primary assignment at a 41-bed unit known for excellent teamwork and a supportive culture. Nurses float within the campus and occasionally to nearby hospitals approximately 8-11 miles away, with ample notice provided. The unit specializes in post-operative care for complex cases such as Whipples, vascular surgery, and bariatric patients, among others.
Schedule:
- 12-hour night shifts (6:30 PM 7:00 AM)
- Three weekends out of every six-week schedule
- Floating within skillset required
- No on-call or call-back responsibilities
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active current compact RN license
- Minimum of two years strong medical-surgical experience, including one travel assignment and trauma level II exposure
- Recent EPIC charting experience (check-off class required)
- AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications
Clinical Skills:
- Proficient in PIV insertion, chest tube and drain management, CBI, epidural management, ostomy care, wound care including wound vacs, and blood product administration
- Experienced in managing stable drips (heparin, lasix, protonix) and tele interpretation
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills essential
