HIE Engineers and Builders is seeking a high-level, motivated Building Consultant to join our team in Denver. This role is designed for a seasoned professional who blends technical expertise with strategic project leadership. You will take point on consulting and rehabilitation projects from initial planning through execution, serving as a trusted technical liaison for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
- Rehab Project Leadership: Lead and oversee rehabilitation, repair, and restoration projects for residential and commercial structures from planning through execution.
- Technical Consulting: Perform hands-on condition assessments, forensic investigations, structural assessments, expert witness, and construction observations for both residential and commercial structures, including documenting distress and directing intrusive testing.
- Client Relations: Act as a primary point of contact for clients, providing technical recommendations in understandable terms and building lasting professional relationships.
- Analysis & Reporting: Analyze field data, research construction documents, and review governing building codes to facilitate repair recommendations and cost estimating.
- Deliverable Preparation: Coordinate and assist with the drafting of client deliverables, including written reports, specifications and construction documents.
- Oversight & Mentorship: Assume responsibility for key aspects of projects, providing guidance to junior engineering staff and performing quality assurance reviews on site visits.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Licensure: Successful completion of the FE Exam and registration as an Engineering Intern (E.I.) in Colorado is required. Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in assessment, consulting, forensics, or investigation of buildings and construction.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of modern and historic construction standards, building envelope systems, and structural principles.
- Communication: Exceptional written and oral communication skills with a demonstrated ability to explain complex technical info to non-technical stakeholders.
Physical Requirements & Travel
- Physical Ability: Must be able to climb ladders, maneuver pitched roofs, access confined spaces, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Environment: Ability to perform work in temperature extremes (outdoors) and safely maneuver at heights or in hazardous locations.
- Tools: Dexterity to operate office and field equipment, including testing instruments.
- Travel: In-state travel, and limited out-of-state travel, is required; must have the ability to drive and safely operate a motor vehicle.
- PPE: Must be medically fit to utilize respiratory protection and other Personal Protective Equipment.
