JOB SUMMARY:
Under the Direction of the Program Director and VP of Home & Care Services the Transportation
Coordiantor primary goal is to increase and enhance the availability of Transportation
Coordination to Seniors/ ADHC participants, people with Disabilities, and individuals residing in
low income housing communites by increasing the availability and utilization of transportation for
non-emergency needs, assisting older individuals and those with disabilities in accessing
transportation support to engage and participate in regular health and wellness appointments and
ongoing therapeutic services (non-emergency medical), as well as social engagement
opportunities (senior mobility)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee daily ADHC transportation coordination; Increased availability of transportation
be it through 1:1 coordination of services, educational programming, or identifying and
removing barriers to secure appropriate transportation based on individual need.
• Supervise general contractual maintenance program with specific attention to safety inspections.
• Assisting older individuals and those with disabilities in accessing transportation resources.
• Establish all regular schedule ADHC routes, stops and maintain routing as appropriate.
• Coordinate ADHC transportation with participant, families and partner agencies.
• Track, monitor and approve transportation trips.
• Evaluate all elements of transportation program on a continuing basis.
• Communicate with the Department of Special Education to provide reasonable, safe and
prudent transportation services in compliance with Individuals with Disabilities Education
Act (IDEA) and Free and Appropriate Education (FAPE).
• Work is generally performed in a office requiring the frequent use of communication
equipment and computers. Other duties will be performed out in the community which
will require infrequent travel time to a participants/families home for assessment
purposes and or completing presentations to Orange County community.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries, request from Participants, Families and
Transportation company. Ability to handle problems and stressful situations tactfully and
apply proactive problem solving skills. Ability to assist participants & families using
patience and understanding.
• Work with Transportation Agency “Abrazar”staff to establish processes to assess needs
and identify plans and procedures to improve driver and department performances.
• Work with ADHC Social Workers, Abrazar Transportation Coordinators, participants &
families, Bus Drivers, and OCTA regarding authorization applications.
• Increase access to transportation for both non-emergency medical and senior mobility
services for low-income, special needs seniors who have not completed applications or
eligibility interviews for OC ACCESS due to cultural, language, technology or other barriers.2

• Maintain accurate logs of daily events, assignments, and number of participants served
through various of transportation programs (Senior Non-Emergency, ADHC, OCTA interview trips etc).
• Establish and maintain good public relations.
Requirements:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bilingual
• Education and or Experience: High school diploma or GED required. BA degree preferred and or 2-year experience transportation Coordination operations preferred.
• Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate the ability to remain calm and professional in an environment with frequent interruption. Ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals in a courteous and tactful manner, and establish and maintain effective relationships.
• Computer Skills: General knowledge of computer usage and ability to use email. Ability to learn to use routing computer systems, video equipment systems and other systems to obtain student transportation information as needed.
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Ability to obtain certificates as determined necessary for the position. First aid & CPR certified.
• Performing the job duties of this position require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and sitting.
