Job Description:
We’re seeking a skilled Compensation Analyst / Job Evaluation Specialist to support our client’s Human Resources department. This individual will assist with reviewing, evaluating, and leveling new and existing roles across the organization. This is a critical project-based opportunity with the potential to transition into a permanent position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze job functions to determine appropriate classification, compensation levels, and FLSA status
- Conduct comprehensive market pricing and internal equity assessments using established compensation practices
- Collaborate with hiring managers to review job descriptions and understand departmental needs
- Recommend pay ranges and titles based on internal benchmarks and external market data
- Maintain data integrity and process various personnel actions in the HRIS system (PeopleSoft preferred)
- Use Excel to complete compensation analyses and build reports—must be comfortable with Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs
- Ensure compliance with employment law and institutional compensation philosophy
- Offer guidance on salary offers, pay adjustments, and job reclassifications
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of compensation experience, ideally with exposure to higher education or complex, matrixed organizations
- Proven expertise in job evaluation, salary benchmarking, and compensation analysis
- Strong command of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and related functions)
- Familiarity with employment law related to hourly and salaried compensation structures
- Previous experience working with both union and non-union employee groups is a plus
- PeopleSoft experience preferred, not required
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders across departments
Additional Details:
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm (1-hour lunch)
- First month: Onsite 4 days/week, 1 remote
- After first month: Onsite 2 days/week (Tuesdays required + one additional day)
