One of our federal clients seeks a Law Librarian to provide professional library and research services across the Agency’s Washington, DC, and Denver, CO locations. The Law Librarian will support the Agency’s mission by delivering high-quality legal and business research, managing both physical and digital collections, and training staff in the effective use of legal and policy information resources.
This role requires a skilled professional with experience in legal research, collection development, digital resource management, and user training. The Law Librarian will be central to ensuring that Agency personnel have access to accurate, reliable, and cost-effective information resources.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations of the Agency’s legal library.

Conduct in-depth legal and business research; respond to reference requests from staff.

Provide access to information resources in multiple formats (print, electronic, subscription databases).

Perform cite-checking, editing, and topical monitoring of legal and policy documents.

Maintain and evaluate collections, ensuring alignment with Agency needs.

Conduct annual review of holdings; recommend retention, removal, or acquisition of resources in line with Collection Management Policy.

Evaluate subscriptions; make recommendations for renewals, cancellations, and new purchases.

Manage purchase requests and vendor relationships for all library resources.

Issue, manage, and cancel user credentials for digital subscriptions.

Provide group and one-on-one training on legal research tools and databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).

Advise Agency staff on cost-effective research strategies and use of traditional and digital resources.

Support special projects through research, presentation materials, and briefing support.

Develop and maintain SharePoint and other Office 365 platforms to enhance legal research and internal knowledge sharing.

Provide new employee orientation and ongoing staff training on library services and research platforms.

Collaborate with Agency staff to publish content supporting Work-Life and employee engagement programming.
Qualifications

Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) or Juris Doctor (JD) preferred, with experience in law librarianship.

Demonstrated expertise in legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal databases.

Experience with digital resource management, library collection development, and vendor coordination.

Strong skills in cite-checking, editing, and legal document review.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint content management.

Excellent communication and training skills; ability to advise staff at all levels.

Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and analytical abilities.
