This opportunity is for an experienced Med/Surg Registered Nurse with a strong clinical background, specializing in surgical medical care. The position is a 13-week contract offering night shifts at a busy surgical unit serving post-surgical patients including those undergoing complex procedures such as whipple surgeries, vascular interventions, bariatric care, and more.

Location:
Boonville, IN, at a teaching hospital with a 41-bed unit known for excellent teamwork, supportive leadership, and a positive workplace culture. The unit embraces celebrations and fosters a collaborative environment ideal for nurses who thrive in a dynamic and engaging setting.

Schedule / Hours:

• 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Guaranteed 36 hours weekly, with option to request up to 48 hours
• Overtime applies after 52 hours on 48-hour schedules
• Weekend coverage required three weekends every six weeks
• Float assignments within skillset across nearby campuses with advance notice

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

• Active Compact RN license
• Current AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications required at submission
• Minimum 2 years strong Med/Surg experience including at least one travel assignment
• Experience in trauma level II setting preferred
• Recent EPIC charting experience with willingness to complete checkoff class
• Proficient in PIV insertion, chest tube and drain management, wound care (including wound vacs), epidural management, ostomy care, blood product administration, and tele interpretation
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, resilience, and adaptability skills essential

Responsibilities / Duties:

• Provide care for complex post-surgical patients (e.g., cardiac cath, bariatrics, ENT, podiatry)
• Manage patients with varied conditions such as dementia, AMS, CIWA/detox, and frequent repositioning needs
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced surgical med/surg floor
• Potentially precept nursing students and new hires as part of teaching hospital requirements

• Float to nearby campuses with 2-hour notice when required
• No call-back or on-call responsibilities
