Rapid City Medical Center has a full-time Radiology Support Specialist to provide support to the Radiology team in an administrative capacity. The Radiology Support Specialist will provide quality customer service to both patients and staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manages complex scheduling and coordination of services for radiology appointments.
  • Answers department phone calls.
  • Ensures that reports, internal and external, are attached to patient charts. Requires the ability to scan and attach reports into electronic medical records.
  • Imports and exports radiology images when requested. Helps with image storage such as Powershare and Medicom.
  • Helps with exam preparation for Radiologic Technologists, consisting of but not limited to transferring orders to HIS/RIS systems, room preparation or maintenance, and patient transportation back to exam rooms.
  • Ensures that exam progress notes are coded appropriately and locked for billing.
  • Prepares paperwork for daily exams.
  • Responsible for ordering department supplies.
  • Ensures that prior imaging is available for comparison.
  • Follows up with patients on exams that have been rescheduled, cancelled, or no showed.
  • Responsible for making sure future radiology exams have orders.
  • Coordinate and communicate same day add on exams for CT, Ultrasounds, Dexa and Mammography.
  • Responsible for working with Mammography Technologist on patients who need follow up/additional views.
  • Place standing Mammography orders for the week.
  • Responsible for working with Dexa Technologist on obtaining results on Dexa scans and placing scan/results into electronic medical records.
  • Helps CT technologist ensure that exam/order have proper prior authorization, health reform notice, lab results, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • One year of healthcare experience preferred.


PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in an office environment. Work may require hand dexterity for computer keyboarding, the telephone and other office machine operations. Sitting for extended periods of time and must be able to view computer screens for extended periods of time. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant, may be interruptive and may involve dealing with ill patients. Must maintain patient confidentiality.
