Position Summary: The Youth & Family Specialist will provide home and community support to promote safety and stability through assessment, direct intervention, care coordination and referral to appropriate services to help meet their needs.
Location: Topeka, KS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, criminal justice, child and family development, education, or related field. Years of related work experience may be substituted for years of education.
Experience: Requires Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs as well as Outlook email. Two or more years’ experience in children and family services preferred Prevention Services and in-home services experience
Licensure/Certification: Valid driver’s license and auto insurance. BSRB Licensure within the state of KS preferred but not required
Essential Duties:
· Conduct initial family assessments, build rapport, and document findings using standardized tools.
· Identify and prioritize family needs based on assessment data and urgency.
· Develop individualized, strengths-based service plans aligned with program goals.
· Connect families to internal and community resources (housing, healthcare, education, employment, financial assistance).
· Monitor progress, adjust service plans, and provide ongoing support.
· Facilitate parenting and life-skills education, including Solution-Based Casework and Parent Empowerment programs.
· Promote and strengthen the five protective factors for family stability.
· Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and compliance with confidentiality standards.
· Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and communicate with internal and external partners.
· Participate in professional development and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
· Adhere to ethical, legal, and organizational standards in all service delivery.
· Support program engagement through community outreach and partnership building.
