Job DescriptionNEPA Specialist – Minimum QualificationsEducation:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, archeology, anthropology, cultural resource management, chemistry, engineering, or a related field, required. Master’s degree is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in environmental planning or NEPA compliance, preferably within transportation or infrastructure projects.
- Experience should include:
- Interpreting and applying environmental laws and regulations (e.g., NEPA, Section 106, Endangered Species Act, Clean Air Act, Executive Orders, Clean Water Act, Section 4(f))
- Preparing or reviewing NEPA documents, such as environmental impact statements, environmental assessments, and categorical exclusions.
- Preparing technical reports, documentation, and briefing materials.
- Coordinating with regulatory agencies and stakeholders
- Preferred experience:
- Environmental permitting and NEPA compliance for pipeline projects.
- Application or interpretation of Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety regulations.
Skills:
- Ability to prepare and review environmental documentation and technical studies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordination with agencies, stakeholders, and the public.
- Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
Other Requirements:
- Position is based in Washington, DC, with an expectation of regular in-person work and attendance at meetings as needed.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
