About the Role:

The Automation PM - SME Project Engineer Support plays a critical role in overseeing and guiding automation projects within the manufacturing sector, ensuring seamless integration of complex systems. This position is responsible for providing subject matter expertise in system integration, technical leadership, and compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to drive project success from conception through completion. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and optimize automation solutions that enhance operational efficiency and product quality. The incumbent will manage project timelines, resources, and risks while maintaining alignment with organizational goals and regulatory standards. Ultimately, this role ensures that automation projects deliver measurable improvements in manufacturing processes, safety, and compliance within the United States manufacturing environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Automation, or a related technical field.
  • Proven experience in system integration within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
  • Demonstrated understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and their application in automation projects.
  • Experience in project management or technical leadership roles supporting engineering projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
  • Experience working in regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals or food manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with advanced automation technologies and Industry 4.0 concepts.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience with validation and qualification processes for automated systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate automation projects, ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Provide expert guidance on system integration involving SCADA and PLC technologies to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to ensure compliance with GMP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project documentation, including technical specifications, risk assessments, and validation protocols.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues related to automation systems during project execution and post-implementation.

Skills:

The required skills such as system integration, SCADA, and PLC are utilized daily to design, implement, and troubleshoot automation systems that improve manufacturing efficiency and compliance. Technical leadership skills enable the candidate to guide multidisciplinary teams, ensuring that project objectives are met while adhering to GMP standards.
