Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and compassionate Senior Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our team and play a vital role in providing exceptional care to children and adolescents across 5+ pediatric dental practices in Brooklyn and Queens.
Hourly rates start at $25 per hour. Candidates with meaningful experience can earn higher compensation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert chairside assistance during pediatric dental procedures, including sealants, fluoride treatments, extractions, stainless steel crowns, space maintainers, and pulpotomies.
- Mentor and train junior pediatric dental assistants, ensuring adherence to best practices in pediatric patient care, behavioral management, and infection control.
- Create a welcoming and child-friendly environment, using effective behavioral management techniques to reduce dental anxiety and build trust with young patients.
- Take and process high-quality pediatric dental radiographs (X-rays) while ensuring comfort and safety for young patients.
- Educate parents and children on proper oral hygiene, diet, and post-treatment care, emphasizing long-term preventive care strategies.
- Assist in the fabrication, fitting, and maintenance of space maintainers and other pediatric appliances.
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, charting treatment progress and monitoring oral health outcomes.
- Ensure strict infection control and sterilization protocols, maintaining a safe and sanitary environment for all patients.
- Collaborate with pediatric dentists, hygienists, and front office staff to streamline workflow and enhance patient care efficiency.
- Stay updated on the latest pediatric dental techniques, sedation protocols, and emerging dental technologies.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience as a Pediatric Dental Assistant in a high-volume practice.
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or Certified Pediatric Dental Assistant (CPDA) credentials preferred.
- X-ray and CPR certification required.
- Proficiency in pediatric-specific dental tools and procedures, including stainless steel crowns, pulpotomies, and space maintainers.
- Extensive experience in child behavioral management techniques to support young patients with dental anxiety.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and train junior staff.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with both children and parents.
- Proven ability to manage high-volume patient flow across multiple locations while maintaining high standards of care.
- Commitment to HIPAA compliance, OSHA regulations, and infection control protocols.
