Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a lasting impact supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic school environment! This contract role is based in the Apopka, FL area, with a start date set for August 10, 2026, continuing through May 28, 2027. You’ll work full-time, providing essential interpreter/translator services for the Deaf in educational settings, with assignments focused on a 1:1 caseload. The position is onsite and may involve serving multiple schools.
The district will finalize the budget on June 8, and agencies expect to receive official vacancy notifications soon after. There’s a strong likelihood of interviews taking place as early as next week!
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Ability to interpret in an educational environment, supporting K-12 students.
- Hold an EIPA level 3 or higher; OR possess RID: NIC, NAD, or K-12/OTC Educational Certification.
- Demonstrated skill in both ASL and English communication.
- Experience in school settings preferred, particularly in 1:1 student support roles.
- Commitment to timely credentialing: completion of district-specific onboarding and documentation prior to assignment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct interpretation for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and staff.
- Ensure interpretations are age-appropriate and align with individual education plans.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Accurately complete required timesheets and procedural forms.
