Greater Lynn Senior Services, Inc has a great opportunity for a hands-on experience that would be ideal for a Business, Communications, or Liberal Arts major!

Position Overview: The Communications Intern (intern) will be an important member of the development and communications team, particularly in this 50th Anniversary year, and will take part in team and staff meetings when possible. By participating in many of the organization's activities, the intern will learn about specific GLSS attributes as a nonprofit organization, the community's concerns and needs, and the developing characteristics of needs in the future. This position will enable the individual freedom to work on a variety of types of projects depending on her/his skill level and ability, he/she will learn general business protocol, communications strategy, event and fundraising, as well as donor relations.

Position Responsibilities: The Development & Communications intern will provide support for planning and preparation for GLSS' 50th Anniversary celebrations; online communications, social media communications, and fundraising/outreach to prospective donors and secured donors. The intern will also provide support in the planning and execution of special events, and in marketing efforts to support these events, as needed. In addition, he/she will learn how to apply leading business practices, the importance of planning, and how to work in a professional environment engaging constituents at all levels-donors, volunteers, agencies, vendors and professional staff. The intern will also have an opportunity to engage in projects appropriate to her/his interest (i.e. computer database management, web design, etc.).

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

•Attention to detail

•Ability to follow instructions and ask for guidance/clarification when needed

•Aptitude for customer service, in person, over the phone, and via email

•Computer skills with experience in Microsoft platform (experience with Adobe platform is a plus)

•Aptitude for learning new software applications

Hours: 15-20 hours per week, Monday through Friday
