About the Role:
Job Description
The Dental Assistant supports the dentist(s) in delivering efficient, high-quality patient care. This role ensures patients are comfortable, prepared, and supported throughout their visit.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include preparing patients and treatment rooms, setting up and sterilizing instruments, and assisting the dentist using four-handed dentistry. The Dental Assistant also provides oral hygiene and post-operative instructions, maintains cleanliness and inventory, schedules appointments, updates patient records, and assists with payment procedures.
Skills and Qualifications
Strong communication and customer service skills are required, with bilingual Spanish preferred. Candidates must be detail-oriented, organized, comfortable using dental software, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment while following state regulations and protocols.
Qualifications (Experience, Education, Certification)
Previous dental assisting experience is preferred but not required. Candidates must meet state requirements for Dental Assistant duties and hold or obtain applicable certifications, including BLS/CPR and radiography, as required.
Work Conditions and Schedule
The Dental Assistant works under the supervision of dentists, the lead dental assistant, and the Office Manager in a clean, well-lit clinical environment. Some evening or weekend hours may be required, and all safety protocols must be followed, including those related to X-ray equipment.
Physical Requirements
This role requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods while assisting chairside. Candidates must also be able to bend, climb stairs, and lift supplies as needed.
