Job Description:

The Program Manager will be responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing a portfolio of projects and programs that support ELLKAY’s business objectives. This role requires a blend of technical, project management, and healthcare-specific knowledge to ensure that our solutions meet clinical, regulatory, and business needs. This role bridges the gap between healthcare domain expertise and software development, ensuring that solutions are clinically relevant, technically sound, and operationally efficient for hospital clients. This position will work very closely with the Director, Program Management and all other functional area managers to ensure operational goals are met. This position requires an individual to be extremely organized, have keen attention to detail and the flexibility to work with various aspects of ELLKAY business.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with hospital operations and a strong understanding of how ancillary departments integrate with broader clinical and administrative systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Program Leadership & Delivery:

  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of healthcare software programs related to hospital ancillary workflows (LIS, RIS, etc.).
  • Define program scope, objectives, timelines, and deliverables in alignment with client goals and organizational strategy.
  • Coordinate across product, engineering, quality assurance, and client implementation teams to ensure successful deployment and adoption.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.

Healthcare Workflow Expertise:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on hospital ancillary service workflows — including specimen processing, imaging orders/results, medication management, and billing interfaces.
  • Translate clinical and operational requirements into actionable software requirements for the development team.
  • Advise on best practices for interoperability and data exchange between ancillary systems and enterprise EHR platforms (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, etc.).
  • Ensure that software solutions align with hospital regulatory, compliance, and patient safety standards (HIPAA, CLIA, Joint Commission, etc.).

Client & Stakeholder Management:

  • Act as the primary liaison between hospital stakeholders and internal development teams.
  • Facilitate client workshops and workflow assessments to gather business and functional requirements.
  • Communicate program updates, risks, and milestones to internal leadership and external clients.
  • Support client onboarding, training, and adoption strategies for new or updated solutions.

Operational & Process Improvement:

  • Drive continuous improvement in software delivery processes using Lean, Agile, or hybrid methodologies.
  • Monitor and analyze key program metrics (performance, adoption, issue resolution, ROI) to identify enhancement opportunities.

Partner with product management to prioritize roadmap items informed by user feedback and workflow outcomes.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required or 5-7 years related experience in Healthcare Project / Program Management.

Experience:

  • Healthcare Project Management or Program Management: 5+ years (Required)
  • 5+ years’ experience managing healthcare software programs / projects, ideally in a product or implementation setting.
  • Strong familiarity with hospital workflows in ancillary departments, such as laboratory, imaging, pharmacy, etc.

  • Deep understanding of hospital operational processes and data flows across ancillary services.

Certifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred
