We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team in the York, Maine area. This is a long-term contract position ideal for someone with strong financial and organizational skills. Responsibilities:
• Oversee and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, preparing financial statements and reconciliations.
• Generate ad hoc financial reports to support decision-making and strategic planning.
• Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
• Manage budgets and forecasts, analyzing variances to ensure alignment with financial objectives.
• Handle monthly sales tax filings and ensure compliance with state regulations.
• Collaborate with internal teams to compile and organize financial documents for audits and reviews.
• Implement and maintain document control systems, ensuring efficient management and retrieval of scanned documents.
• Monitor and improve processes related to document scanning and organization.
• Provide guidance to the accounting team to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to deadlines.
• Proven experience in general ledger management and accounting processes.
• Strong knowledge of month-end and year-end closings, including financial statement preparation.
• Proficiency in creating ad hoc reports and conducting financial analysis.
• Demonstrated expertise in financial reporting and compliance.
• Experience in budget management and variance analysis.
• Familiarity with monthly sales tax filings and regulatory requirements.
• Skilled in document control and organizing scanned financial records.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities to manage accounting teams effectively.
