Salary Range: $62,000 - $97,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and repair precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC equipment.
  • Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and optical comparators.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve tooling malfunctions and production issues.
  • Select and work with appropriate materials, such as tool steel and carbide, for tool fabrication.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and preventative checks on tooling to ensure optimal performance.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Completed apprenticeship as a Tool and Die Maker or equivalent journeyman-level experience.
  • Proficiency in operating a variety of precision machining equipment, including mills, lathes, surface grinders, and EDM machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Expertise in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and bore gauges to verify part accuracy.
  • Strong understanding of tool and die design, construction, maintenance, and repair principles, including material selection and heat treatment.

Bonus Qualifications

  • - Experience with CNC machining and programming.
  • - Proficiency in CAD/CAM software.
  • - Knowledge of heat treatment processes.
  • - Experience with EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining).
  • - Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles.
