Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license and minimum 1+ years Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) supporting medically fragile children in a school environment near Oakland, CA. This contract-based, full-time position (30 hours per week) offers the opportunity to work closely with students aged 4 to 22 across multiple campuses, providing essential healthcare services and developing relationships with families and staff.

As an itinerant nurse, you'll rotate between students depending on their needs, ensuring continuity and quality of care. You'll interact directly with students, provide training for school staff, and stay connected with parents and guardians to foster a supportive environment.

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

  • Active California LVN/LPN license
  • Previous experience in a school, pediatric, or special needs setting
  • Skilled in caring for students with gastrostomy tubes, managing bladder catheterization, diabetes management (including CGM and carbohydrate counting), and responding to hypo/hyperglycemia
  • Proficient in administering medications such as EpiPens and Benadryl
  • Comfortable supporting students with developmental delays, ASD, and medically complex needs
  • Bilingual Spanish skills are a plus, though not required
  • Ability to connect professionally with students, families, and staff

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review and implement seizure and healthcare plans
  • Train school personnel in medical procedures and emergency response protocols
  • Communicate regularly with parents to facilitate student care
  • Remain available for urgent health needs during school hours
  • Provide direct care and assistance to students as required
