Job Description
This role supports construction activities at a new plant build by providing fire watch coverage, equipment spotting and flagging, general site cleanup, and assistance with mechanical and electrical installations. The position involves frequent movement around the job site, handling tools and materials, and working closely with construction and safety teams to maintain a secure and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform dedicated fire watch duties to monitor hot work areas and respond appropriately according to established safety procedures.
- Act as an equipment spotter and flagger to guide operators of heavy equipment and lifts, ensuring safe movement around the site.
- Support mechanical and electrical installation teams by assisting with basic tasks as directed.
- Carry and run tools, materials, and equipment between the work truck and various work stations throughout the site.
- Complete general site cleanup, including trash removal and organizing materials, to maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and correctly for basic construction tasks as needed.
- Follow all construction safety procedures and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment for all personnel.
- Participate in training and obtain certification for fire watching and basic fire extinguisher use.
- Work extended hours, including overtime, as required to support project schedules.
Essential Skills
- 3–5+ years of experience working on a construction site.
- 3–5+ years of experience using basic hand tools and power tools.
- 3–5+ years of experience working outside on construction sites in varying conditions.
- 3–5+ years of experience performing fire watch and spotting duties.
- 3–5+ years of experience working as a flagger and equipment spotter.
- 3–5+ years of experience performing general cleanup and trash removal on job sites.
- 3–5+ years of experience working with lifts such as scissor lifts and lift trucks.
- Demonstrated ability to follow and apply construction safety procedures.
- Strong commitment to working safely and maintaining a safe work environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience supporting mechanical and electrical installation teams on construction projects.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment and lift operations from a spotting and safety perspective.
- Ability to stay alert and attentive while performing fire watch duties for extended periods.
- Capability to handle physically demanding work, including walking, standing, lifting, and carrying tools and materials across the job site.
- Willingness to obtain and maintain certification in fire watching and basic fire extinguisher use.

Work Environment
You will work primarily outdoors on an active construction site at a new plant build. The role requires moving around the site frequently, working at or around lifts and heavy equipment, and handling tools and materials throughout the day. Appropriate workwear suitable for an outdoor construction setting, along with standard personal protective equipment, will be necessary to perform the job safely.

This is a Contract position based out of Muscle Shoals, AL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
