Division Chief of Cardiac Surgery - The CardioVascular Center at Tufts Medical Center, Boston, MA
Tufts Medical Center and its CardioVascular Center are seeking a Chief of the Division of Cardiac Surgery. The ideal candidate will have significant leadership skills to support and drive the growth of the clinical and academic programs of the Division.
Primary clinical responsibilities will include the broad spectrum of adult cardiac surgery, ideally with a special emphasis on valvular surgery. The recruited surgeon will have ample opportunities to establish and/or grow a robust practice and advance his/her career. As Division Chief, the leader will have significant responsibility for quality, efficiency and the fiduciary performance of the Division, working with the Chief Physician Executive of the CardioVascular Center to establish goals and strategic priorities.
About the Division of Cardiac Surgery
The Division:
- Is part of the CardioVascular Center at Tufts Medical Center, an integrated Heart and Vascular Center with financial and strategic alignment across Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, and Vascular Surgery
- Has robust and growing interdisciplinary programs in valvular/structural heart disease, cardiac arrhythmia, aortic disease, and ischemic heart disease.
- Performs approximately 1,000 cardiac surgical operations per year
- Has one of the largest heart transplant programs in the country; in 2024, Tufts cardiac surgeons performed a record 70 heart transplants, the most of any center in New England. A broad and growing referral base with increasing volume of referrals for advanced HF evaluation as well as a strong collaboration with Cardiology and an evolved Critical Care program all support continued growth of the transplant program.
- Trains the next generation of cardiothoracic surgeons through an ACGME-accredited Thoracic Surgery residency program

Tufts Medical Center offers a competitive salary commensurate with training and practice experience. A faculty appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine will be offered commensurate with academic qualifications.
