Position Summary:


Maui Brewing Co. is seeking a QA Analyst I to join our team in our Kihei location. This position reports to the QA lead and is responsible for collecting and analyzing samples, data entry, and general lab maintenance. Candidates must share Craft ‘Ohana’s commitment to its four operating pillars: Quality of Products, Quality of Life, Quality of Business Practices, and Quality of Manufacturing Operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collection of samples in accordance with daily sampling plan, including using aseptic techniques for micro testing
  • Analysis of in-process and finished beer samples using densitometer, Alcolyzer, spectrophotometer, handheld CO2/O2 meters, etc.
  • Accurate data entry and reporting quality deviations to the appropriate individuals
  • Packaged product sampling and analysis including: gas analysis, seam checks, microbiological tests, and total package quality analysis
  • Yeast management including yeast cell counts, viability, and propagation
  • Process water testing
  • Calibrating and troubleshooting lab equipment
  • Set up and participation in sensory analysis program
  • Follow best practice and safety requirements dutifully
  • Assist in Cellar or Packaging roles as necessary
  • Be a team player and able to interact with all levels within the organization?
  • Adhere to and enforce all applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations?
  • Other tasks as needed

Qualifications:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application
  • Able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment reference, and background check?
  • Degree in chemistry, biology, microbiology, food science or related field
  • An interest in beer is strongly preferred
  • Strict attention to detail and quality
  • Excellent computer and communication skills
  • Must be able to prioritize with minimal direction
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a love for meeting and interacting with people
  • Thorough attention to detail and desire to take initiative
  • Must adhere to company’s policies and procedures


Physical Requirements:

  • Able to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Work safely with chemicals with reasonable safety accommodations.?
  • Able to stand, walk, climb, kneel, and lift up to 55 lbs on a regular basis.?
  • Able to work with varying chemicals requiring safety precaution.?
  • Ability to work in loud, warm environments for extended periods of time.?
  • Able to read and follow written instructions
  • Able to work in a factory/production environment which may be loud, slick, humid, cold, and hot
  • Able to work in indoor and outdoor environments with moderate noise and occasionally slippery floors
  • Able to comply with and enforce all health, safety, and personal hygiene policies and standards
