Electro-Mechanical Technician
Orangeburg, NJ
Pay: $75K - $90K annuall
Shift: M-F, 1st shift
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 10+ years of industrial maintenance experience preferred, with strong exposure to automation and electromechanical systems.
- Candidates with less experience may be considered if they demonstrate advanced technical expertise.
- Basic mechanical aptitude required.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Flexibility to support multiple shifts and respond to urgent downtime needs.
- Proficiency with testing equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus).
- Experience with robotics, motion control, automation, or machine vision systems.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens; programming experience is a plus).
- Strong understanding of servo drives, VFDs, robotics, and industrial control systems.
- Working knowledge of pneumatics, actuators, and mechanical power transmission.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Diagnose and resolve equipment downtime across PLCs, servo drives, robotics, sensors, motor controls, and control valves.
- Calibrate, test, and replace sensors, encoders, and other feedback devices.
- Troubleshoot integration and safety interlock issues within automated systems, including robotic cells and conveyors.
- Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting as needed to support electrical and automation functionality.
- Perform preventive maintenance focused on electrical and control systems for production equipment.
- Assist with predictive maintenance activities such as electrical testing, thermal imaging, and insulation resistance checks.
- Accurately document maintenance activities and repairs within the CMMS.
- Partner with engineering and operations teams to conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on recurring issues.
- Identify and implement improvements to controls, automation systems, and electrical components.
- Mentor junior technicians in electrical troubleshooting and automation best practices.
- Adhere to and enforce OSHA and EHS standards during all maintenance activities.
- Ensure strict compliance with lockout/tagout (LOTO) and electrical safety procedures.
