Huron Gastro, P.C. is an adult medical gastroenterology practice specializing in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of disorders that affect the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine (colon), rectum, liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, and pancreas. Our practice includes 25 physicians who are board-certified in gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, 10 Advanced Practice Providers, and an outstanding staff of clinical and administrative personnel.

SUMMARY
The Anesthesiologist provides comprehensive anesthesia services for patients undergoing outpatient endoscopy procedures, including colonoscopies and upper GI procedures, within the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). This role delivers direct patient care while providing medical direction and clinical supervision of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) in accordance with applicable state laws and regulatory standards. The Anesthesiologist works collaboratively with physicians, CRNAs, nurses, and staff to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality anesthesia care in a fast-paced outpatient setting.
Educational Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
- Completion of an accredited Anesthesiology residency program
License and Certification
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology
- Active, unrestricted state medical license
- DEA registration
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
Experience Requirements
Prior experience in ambulatory surgery or outpatient procedural anesthesia preferred
Experience working in a care team model with CRNAs preferred
Experience with high-volume endoscopy or GI procedures strongly preferred

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
- Conduct pre-anesthesia assessments, including medical history review, risk evaluation, and anesthesia planning
- Obtain informed consent for anesthesia services
- Administer and manager moderate sedation and deep sedation as clinically appropriate
- Provide continuous procedural monitoring and respond to changes in patient condition
- Perform airway management and emergency interventions as needed
- Oversee post-anesthesia recovery and determine patient readiness for discharge
- Document all anesthesia care accurately and timely in the medical record
CRNA Supervision
- Provide medical direction and supervision of CRNAs in accordance with state regulations and ASC policies
- Be immediately available for consultation, support, and emergency intervention during cases
- Participate in pre-anesthesia planning and case review with CRNAs
- Provide guidance, education, and feedback to CRNAs to ensure safe practice standards
- Collaborate with leadership regarding staffing and scheduling needs
- Patient Safety and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all anesthesia standards of care, infection control protocols, and patient safety practices
- Follow CMS Conditions for Coverage and accreditation standards (AAAHC)
- Participate in quality improvement, peer review, and incident reporting processes
- Maintain accurate documentation for clinical, regulatory, and billing purposes
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with gastroenterologists, proceduralists, nursing staff, and leadership to maintain efficient case flow
- Support positive patient experience through effective communication and compassionate care
- Participate in staff meetings

- Daytime hours
- Predictable outpatient schedule
- No call responsibilities
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Physical demands of position include but are not limited to extensive walking and standing.
- Ambulatory surgery center clinical environment.
- Exposure to medical equipment, medications, and bodily fluids
- Ability to respond rapidly in emergency situations
