General Description: We are seeking an Accounting Manager / Controller whom is capable of helping support our ongoing and exciting growth as a Civil Engineering and Land Surveying company.
The Controller will oversee project accounting, financial report, AR/AP, enforce proper accounting methods are in place and is responsible for overseeing team members within the accounting department. There are currently three (and a half) direct reports within the accounting department.
Responsibilities
- Prepares financial reports at various time periods (weekly, monthly quarterly) such as income statements and cash flow reports.
- Assists with budgets and forecasting.
- Reviews data entered into accounting system by staff within our accounting department to ensure best practices are being taken.
- Works closely with other departments to ensure that data is being properly prepared, shared and utilized.
- Oversees payroll, benefits accrual, prevailing wage compliance and other similar tasks.
- Identify efficiencies and opportunities to enhance accounting practice.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks while delegating to staff and holding the staff accountable.
Knowledge and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Master’s degree in related field preferred
- 7 years accounting experience minimum
- Experience working with payroll processing software required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Advanced knowledge of Accounting
