Location: New York, NY
Department: Operating Room (OR)
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 5 Days/Week | Day Shift | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM | 37.5 Hours/Week

Compensation

  • Gross Weekly: $2,914

  • W2 Rate: $22/hour

  • Weekly Stipend: $2,240

Position Overview

A leading healthcare facility in New York City is seeking a skilled Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for a 13-week contract assignment within the Operating Room. The ideal candidate will have strong Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience and the ability to support surgical teams in a fast-paced, high-acuity hospital environment.

The Operating Room Technician will assist surgeons and nursing staff during operative procedures while maintaining a sterile field and ensuring adherence to safety and infection control standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain sterile surgical fields following aseptic techniques.

  • Set up surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies according to procedure requirements.

  • Assist surgeons during procedures by anticipating instrument and supply needs.

  • Maintain accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts in collaboration with circulating nurse.

  • Ensure proper handling of specimens in accordance with hospital policy.

  • Support patient positioning and safe transfers before and after procedures.

  • Assist in room turnover and preparation for subsequent surgeries.

  • Maintain compliance with infection control and safety regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • CST Certification – Required

  • Completion of an accredited Certified Surgical Technologist Training Program – Required

  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room Surgical Tech experience

  • CVOR (Cardiovascular OR) experience – Mandatory

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a surgical team

  • Physical stamina to meet the demands of the OR environment
