Job Summary
This position is vital to the production process, including manufacturing and construction, where you play a crucial role in painting, protecting, and finishing surfaces. These professionals apply paint and coating to a wide range of materials and products for automobiles and aerospace. This role not only requires precision and attention to detail but also adherence to safety standards to ensure effective and efficient applications of process.
Responsibilities & Duties
· Assessing surfaces and products to determine if they are ready for coating and need further preparation
· Preparing surfaces by cleaning and sanding to ensure paint adherence
· Selecting, mixing, and blending paints and other solutions according to the requirements of the project
· Applying primers and repainting surfaces if necessary
· Using all necessary equipment to apply paints, varnishes, and coatings
· Drying and finishing surfaces after painting, using sanding, polishing, or adding additional layers
· Cleaning and maintaining painting and coating equipment
· Complying with environmental regulations regarding the use of paints and solvents, and managing waste products
· Physical Requirements
o Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time
o Constant and repetitive movement of fingers, hands, and wrists
Minimum Requirements
· Attention to detail and a steady hand for meticulous work.
· Knowledge of different types of paints and their appropriate applications.
· Understanding safety protocols to avoid hazardous chemicals.
· Excellent color vision and aesthetic sense to accurately match and apply colors
Required
· Proven experience in a painting or coating position, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
· Familiarity with various painting and coating techniques and equipment.
· Strong attention to detail and appreciation for quality.
· Ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines meticulously.
· Physical stamina and strength to handle long hours standing or in repetitive movements.
· Effective communication skills and teamwork-oriented attitude.
· At least 2+ years of painting and coating for a manufacturer.
