Sky View Rehabilitation and Health Care, a 192-bed Skilled Nursing Facility located in Croton-on-Hudson, NY. Sky View serves as the bridge between hospital and home, spanning the gap from recovery to community reentry. Our luxurious and hotel-like environment is the ideal setting for those in need of Post Acute Rehabilitation or Long-Term Care. Our team of highly skilled physical, occupational, speech, and respiratory therapists really care and work together to create an individualized therapy plan that helps residents reach their highest level of functioning in as short an amount of time as possible – preparing for their eventual return home.
Hospitality Liaison / Lead Receptionist
- Facilitate the move-in and admissions process for new residents facility-wide, support residents on the short-term rehabilitation unit, and help ensure a smooth transition between admissions and the nursing unit.
- Coordinate with all applicable departments to ensure vacant rooms are clean, orderly, and ready before each new admission arrives.
- Visit with new residents during their first 3 days to assist with adjustment; orient residents and family members to the facility.
- Serve as a point person for residents and families — answering questions, solving problems, and helping them feel welcomed and comfortable.
- Relay any issues new residents are experiencing to the relevant department and help resolve them.
- Maintain good working rapport with staff across departments and units.
Lead Receptionist Functions
- Oversee receptionist staffing and schedules; ensure adequate front-desk coverage at all times, including coordinating coverage for call-offs, breaks, and vacations.
- Train and onboard new receptionists on front-desk procedures, phone protocol, and facility policies.
- Serve as the first point of escalation for receptionist questions or issues during shifts.
- Monitor receptionist performance and provide feedback to management/HR as needed.
- Develop, update, and enforce front-desk policies and procedures.
- Conduct periodic front-desk/reception area inspections to ensure a professional, organized appearance.
- Participate in interviewing and recommending candidates for receptionist positions.
- Lead brief team check-ins/meetings with the receptionist staff as needed.
- Act as backup coverage for receptionist duties on not standard shifts
- Responsible for all phases of Receptionist Office operations while on duty; serves as the key point of contact for all communications and messages, including in emergencies.
- Answer telephones; take and relay messages.
- Distribute employee paychecks.
- Operate office equipment; arrange for maintenance and repair as needed.
- Provide prospective applicants with applications and instructions; forward materials to Human Resources.
- Tag resident clothing dropped off for labeling and forward to Housekeeping.
- Sort and distribute facility mail to departments and nursing units.
- Order and maintain office supplies cost-effectively; submit orders through Oncare.
- Provide petty cash to residents; ensure signed slips are forwarded to the Business Office.
- Complete work orders for copies.
Requirements:
**Experience in a health care setting -- hospital, skilled nursing facility, nursing home or assisted living facility, a plus.
- Patience and a genuine willingness to assist residents and co-workers with their concerns
- Sincere desire to work with the elderly, chronically ill, and disabled, with sensitivity to the institutionalized elderly
- Sympathetic and empathetic, willing to go above and beyond when reasonable
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with residents, families, and staff
- Good listener, able to identify the true issue behind a complaint
- Tactful, diplomatic, and a good interpersonal/customer-service manner with staff, residents, and families
- Open-minded, fair, honest, and non-judgmental
- Good judgment and a calm, intelligent response in emergency situations
- Resourceful and flexible in coping with a variety of situations, including working well under pressure
- Perseverance – stays with a problem until it's resolved
- Sense of humor in handling day-to-day concerns
- Computer literacy
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work harmoniously with all staff
