Upper School Mathematics Teacher (7th-12th grade)
Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County (ACADC), Lone Tree CO

Work Hours/Days: Monday through Friday, a typical school day, professional development and work days
Essential Functions
The teacher cultivates virtue through instruction, mentorship, and programming, and participates in the Upper School House System as a faculty mentor. The teacher maintains professionalism in conduct and communication, striving to exemplify the school's core virtues and model moral character for students.
The teacher prepares unit and lesson plans in alignment with Hillsdale College's K-12 Program Guide, teaches and mentors students using classical pedagogy, and assigns, collects, grades, and returns student work in a timely manner. The teacher monitors student progress, identifies students needing additional support or academic extension, and collaborates with the Student Services team to implement IEPs, 504 plans, and other learning supports.
The teacher communicates regularly with parents, assists in daily school operations such as attendance, hallway supervision, lunch and recess duty, and participates in professional development offered by Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools, Inc. (ACACS) and Hillsdale College's K-12 Office. The teacher maintains confidentiality in student records, builds collegial relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, and demonstrates consistent and reliable attendance. Other duties may be assigned.
Mathematics Instruction
Teach middle and high school mathematics courses ranging from pre-algebra through calculus.
Required Skills and Abilities
A bachelor's degree in the subject taught is preferred, or a minimum of 36 credit hours in the subject area (or a passing content exam). Candidates must demonstrate a strong content background and willingness to receive classical education training.

The teacher must demonstrate high proficiency in English communication, employ diverse instructional strategies, and possess excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Strong leadership, organization, adaptability, creative problem-solving, and relationship-building skills are required. The candidate must be patient, reliable, professional, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality and customer service standards.
Physical Requirements
The teacher must be able to lift up to 25 pounds, move throughout the classroom and school, sit for extended periods while working on a computer, and supervise indoor and outdoor student activities.
