Job Description
We are seeking a Human Resources Generalist to provide day-to-day HR support in a manufacturing environment. This role serves as a visible, trusted, and approachable resource for employees and leaders while supporting the employee experience, compliance, onboarding, employee relations, HR systems, and other key HR processes.
Job Requirements
- Support day-to-day Human Resources operations for employees and leadership across the manufacturing facility.
- Serve as a visible and approachable HR resource for employees, helping answer questions related to policies, benefits, payroll, attendance, leave, and general workplace matters.
- Coordinate and conduct new hire orientations, including reviewing company policies, safety expectations, benefits information, attendance requirements, workplace expectations, and required onboarding paperwork.
- Partner with supervisors and managers to support employee relations, coaching, documentation, corrective action, and conflict resolution.
- Assist with recruiting and hiring efforts, including posting jobs, scheduling interviews, coordinating pre-employment requirements, and supporting the onboarding process.
- Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, HRIS data, attendance records, and other required documentation.
- Support timekeeping, attendance tracking, payroll preparation, and resolution of employee payroll or scheduling questions.
- Help ensure compliance with company policies, employment laws, safety requirements, and applicable workplace regulations.
- Assist with benefits administration, including employee questions, enrollment support, life event changes, and communication of available programs.
- Coordinate training activities, required certifications, and employee development programs as needed for production and support teams.
- Support employee engagement activities, recognition programs, communication efforts, and culture-building initiatives within the facility.
- Assist with investigations, employee concerns, and workplace issue resolution while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Support leave administration, including FMLA, disability, workers’ compensation, accommodations, and return-to-work coordination as applicable.
- Partner with Safety, Operations, and department leaders to reinforce safe work practices and support a positive, productive work environment.
- Assist with offboarding activities, including exit paperwork, system updates, final pay coordination, and exit interviews when applicable.
- Prepare HR reports, track key metrics, and support audits related to staffing, attendance, turnover, compliance, and employee records.
- Perform other HR administrative duties and special projects as needed to support business needs and employee success as assigned by the Human Resources Manager.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred, with 3–5 years of related Human Resources experience required; preferably in a manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environment.
- Proven experience supporting core HR functions, including onboarding, employee relations, benefits, HRIS, payroll/timekeeping, compliance, and employee recordkeeping.
- Experience conducting or supporting new hire orientation, including completion of onboarding paperwork, policy review, benefits overview, and coordination with operations and safety teams.
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR compliance requirements.
- Experience using HRIS, payroll, timekeeping, and applicant tracking systems; experience with Kronos/UKG, Ceridian, or similar systems preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with employees, supervisors, managers, and external partners.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain accurate employee records, files, reports, and documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to build trust, remain approachable, and serve as a visible HR resource on the plant floor and across the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to support employee engagement, communication, training coordination, and culture-building initiatives.
- Strong awareness of workplace safety practices and the ability to partner with operations and safety teams to support a safe work environment.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout a manufacturing facility as needed.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to prevent errors and ensure SOX compliance.
