Job Description

Our organization is looking for two Full-Time Physicians specializing in Occupational Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine to become integral members of our vibrant and collaborative medical teams located in Staten Island and Suffern!

The Selikoff Centers serve as the clinical foundation of the Department of Environmental Medicine's Division of Occupational Medicine at a prominent medical school. This division is dedicated to the prevention and treatment of work-related injuries and illnesses. Annually, the Selikoff Centers conduct around 30,000 clinical visits across various locations, including Manhattan, Staten Island, Suffern, and Yonkers. We have two available positions: one based in Staten Island, New York, and the other in Suffern, New York.

As part of the New York State Department of Health's Occupational Health Clinic Network, the Selikoff Centers are recognized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health as Clinical Centers of Excellence within the World Trade Center Health Program (WTCHP).

The selected physician will be responsible for delivering direct patient care within the clinical office environment at the Selikoff Centers for Occupational Health, under the guidance of the Medical Director.

Key Responsibilities

The Physician will:

  • Conduct evidence-based clinical assessments and treatments for work-related injuries and illnesses.

  • Provide outpatient care, monitoring, and treatment for illnesses related to the World Trade Center disaster.

  • Perform medical screenings for groups exposed to hazardous materials, including asbestos, lead, and other toxic substances.

  • Conduct disability evaluations and depositions as necessary.

  • Oversee ancillary healthcare providers.

  • Utilize knowledge and skills to assess and treat occupational injuries and illnesses, particularly those related to the World Trade Center, including evaluating the connection between patients' conditions and their exposure at the disaster site, and certifying exposure-disease relationships for federal agencies managing the WTC Health Program.

  • Assess patients for work-related disorders as a credentialed provider for workers' compensation.

  • Determine fitness for duty and perform disability assessments and consultations regarding occupational illnesses.

Qualifications

  • Medical Degree from an accredited institution.

  • Valid Medical License in New York State.

  • Board Eligible/Board Certified in Occupational Medicine, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Pulmonary Medicine.

  • Candidates in Preventive Medicine with three or more years of recent direct patient care experience will also be considered.

  • Strong communication and organizational abilities.

  • A robust work ethic and a commitment to a team-oriented, performance-driven atmosphere.

  • Ability to collaborate respectfully and build relationships with a diverse range of colleagues.

  • Adaptability in a dynamic environment, with a focus on challenging the status quo and enhancing care delivery.
