Please pre-screen clinician(s) to accept offer without interview.2 years current L&D in hospital setting including OR experienceBLS, ACLS, NRP, FHMmay float to MB/PPPROFILE REQUIREMENTS:Work history/resumeHome/taxable address or Driver licenseSkills checklist (must have been completed within 1 year of submission date)License verificationReferences - required during onboardingState License RequirementsIowaCompact AllowedLabor Delivery Registered Nurse Job Description:· Patient monitoring:Continuously monitoring fetal heart rate and maternal vital signs during labor, including timing contractions. · Pain management:Administering epidurals and other pain relief medications as needed. · Vaginal exams:Performing vaginal exams to assess cervical dilation and progress of labor. · Assisting during delivery:Providing support and guidance to the mother during pushing, assisting with forceps or vacuum deliveries, and performing episiotomies if necessary. · C-section assistance:Assisting the surgical team during cesarean deliveries. · Postpartum care:Monitoring the mother's recovery after delivery, including vital signs, bleeding, and uterine contractions. · Newborn assessment:Evaluating the newborn's health immediately after birth, including Apgar scores. · Patient education:Providing information and support to the mother and partner regarding labor stages, pain management options, and newborn care. · Identifying complications:Recognizing potential complications during labor and delivery, such as fetal distress or abnormal bleeding, and taking appropriate action. · Communication and collaboration:Working closely with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care. Required skills for a labor and delivery nurse:Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide emotional support and build rapport with patients Strong clinical judgment and decision-making abilities to assess and manage potential complications Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment Physical stamina to assist during prolonged labors and deliveries Thorough understanding of fetal monitoring and interpretation Knowledge of pain management techniques and medication administration
