Position Summary
The Cashier/Barista at Epicure Caf will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service, preparing high-quality beverages, handling transactions accurately, and maintaining a clean and welcoming caf environment. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
A Cashier/Barista has the potential to earn up to $20.00 per hour with tips at Epicure Caf!
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and create a friendly, positive atmosphere.
- Assist guests with menu selections, answer questions, and offer recommendations.
- Handle customer concerns or complaints professionally and promptly.
- Operate the cash register/POS system accurately.
- Process cash, card, and digital payments.
- Maintain an organized and clean checkout area.
Beverage & Food Preparation
- Prepare and serve coffee, tea, espresso-based beverages, and specialty drinks following caf recipes.
- Operate espresso machines, grinders, brewers, and other equipment safely.
- Maintain consistency in drink quality, taste, and presentation.
- Serve bakery items, pastries, and caf food offerings with proper portions and presentation.
- Restock and rotate coffee beans, syrups, milk, pastries, and other ingredients to ensure freshness.
Takeout, Online & Delivery Orders
- Accurately pack carry-out orders, online orders, and third-party delivery orders (Uber Eats,Popmenu, etc.).
- Ensure items are labeled, complete, and packed neatly for transport.
- Communicate with guests, drivers, and team members to ensure timely order hand-off.
Cleanliness & Operations
- Follow food safety and hygiene standards.
- Restock display cases and ensure items look fresh and appealing.
- Keep the caf tidy, including tables, counters, equipment, and floors.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth service flow.
- Assist with inventory checks and restocking supplies.
- Follow caf policies, safety guidelines, and operational standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- 1 year of experience in customer service, caf, barista, or hospitality roles
- Strong communication skills with a friendly, guest-focused attitude
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable preparing beverages, serving pastries, and handling to-go/online orders
- Basic math skills; POS experience (Toast preferred)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to follow recipes, portion standards, and food safety guidelines
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Flexible availability, including mornings, weekends, and holidays based on caf needs
- Food Handlers Certification and TABC Certified (or ability to obtain one)
