Job Description
The accountant is responsible for preparing and maintaining financial and business transactions in accordance with accounting principles and standards. This role involves analytical, evaluative, and advisory work requiring a solid understanding of both accounting theory and practice. The accountant will ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial data while supporting management through insightful financial analysis and reporting.
Reports to: Controller
Key Responsibilities:
•
Apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare accurate financial reports.
•
Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, including general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
•
Prepare financial statements such as balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow reports to summarize current and projected company financial positions.
•
Analyze the effects of transactions on account relationships and evaluate alternative methods of treating transactions.
•
Audit contracts, purchase orders, and vouchers to substantiate transactions before settlement.
•
Interpret accounting records and reports, providing advice and recommendations to management on financial matters.
•
Maintain compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and applicable laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
•
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required.
•
CPA certification or progress toward CPA preferred.
•
Minimum of three years of professional accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment.
•
Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
•
Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, or ERP systems) and Microsoft Excel.
•
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
•
Ability to interpret financial data and provide sound recommendations.
•
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
•
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
