Restaurant Server Job Responsibilities

Customer Service: Greeting guests warmly, presenting menus, answering questions, and making recommendations to enhance the dining experience.

Order Taking & Delivery: Accurately taking food and beverage orders and entering them into the Point of Sale (POS) system.

Table Maintenance: Setting tables, clearing courses, and maintaining cleanliness in the dining area.

Collaboration: Working with kitchen staff to ensure proper, timely delivery of food and managing special dietary requests.

Upselling: Promoting specials, appetizers, desserts, and alcoholic beverages to maximize revenue as well as making suggestions about and having a strong knowledge of menu items

Payments: Totaling checks, processing, payments (cash/credit cards), and handling, currency securely.

Job Requirements & Skills

Experience: Prior experience as a server or in, a customer-facing role is often preferred.

Physical Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for long periods and carry heavy trays.

Communication: Excellent verbal skills to interact with guests and coworkers.

Multitasking: Ability to manage multiple tables simultaneously under fast-paced conditions.

Knowledge: Familiarity with sanitation regulations and safe food handling procedures.

Qualifications

● High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

● Food safety certification (required).

● Experience with POS software.
