Total Compensation range: $75k-$85k
An established community-based organization is seeking a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) to oversee overnight outreach operations serving individuals experiencing homelessness throughout New York City.
As an Overnight Outreach Supervisor, you'll provide operational leadership, clinical support, and crisis intervention guidance while ensuring outreach teams are equipped to engage individuals with compassion, professionalism, and evidence-based practices.
Position Overview
This role combines staff supervision, community engagement, crisis response, and program operations. You'll oversee overnight outreach activities, support staff in complex field situations, and collaborate with community stakeholders to address urgent concerns and improve outcomes for individuals experiencing homelessness.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support overnight outreach staff, including housing advocates and clinical team members
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and ongoing professional development to direct reports
- Coordinate overnight staffing schedules and ensure continuous field coverage
- Guide teams in utilizing Housing First, Harm Reduction, Trauma-Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, and Crisis Prevention approaches
- Assist staff with crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and de-escalation strategies during challenging field encounters
- Monitor service delivery, documentation quality, referrals, and compliance with program requirements
- Respond to urgent community concerns and support outreach efforts related to encampments and unsheltered populations
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, emergency responders, government agencies, and community organizations
- Participate in emergency weather response initiatives and overnight crisis operations
- Review outreach trends and help identify areas requiring enhanced engagement or service coordination
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and operational data
- Participate in leadership on-call coverage as needed
Qualifications
- Active New York State LMSW license required
- Minimum one year of supervisory or team leadership experience
- Experience working with homeless services, behavioral health, crisis intervention, outreach programs, or community-based care
- Strong understanding of Housing First, Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-Informed Care principles
- Experience conducting risk assessments and managing crisis situations
