Position Summary
The Project Specialist Accounting is responsible for supporting finance partnering activities aligned with the sites capital strategy. This role contributes to the development, implementation, and maintenance of financial plans, policies, and controls for the capital organization.
The position supports financial reporting, capital project accounting, and long-range financial planning, ensuring compliance with corporate policies, GAAP, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Capital Site Manager in CAPEX budget planning and CMF processes.
- Contribute to the development of a strong Finance Business Partnering function.
- Perform data entry and maintenance in the capital project approval system (ePIP).
- Monitor financial results, analyze trends, and prepare timely and accurate financial reports.
- Ensure financial reporting is in compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and corporate policies.
- Support capital purchases and resolve capital invoice discrepancies.
- Monitor Assets Under Construction (AUC) and support control documentation preparation.
- Assist in asset creation and capitalization processes.
- Support capitalization and project close-out activities, including documentation, approvals, and controls.
- Assist with asset disposals, transfers, impairments, and idle asset processes, including documentation and system entries (e.g., legacy systems such as NOEMS).
- Perform month-end closing activities related to capital projects, including WBS analysis for proper cost allocation and accruals.
- Support allocation of contracted and internal resources to WBS structures.
- Maintain compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies, standards, permits, and applicable local and federal regulations.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
Experience:
- Relevant experience in accounting, finance, or capital project accounting preferred
- Experience in regulated environments (e.g., pharmaceutical, medical device, manufacturing) is a plus
Technical Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles
- Experience with capital project accounting and CAPEX processes
- Familiarity with financial systems and ERP tools (e.g., SAP or similar)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data management
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
Work Environment
- Office-based role with occasional interaction with operational areas
- May require participation in cross-functional meetings and project discussions
